Two suspected robbers were today morning shot dead by police officers in Kayole, Nairobi county as two others made away with weapons.
According to Kayole OCPD Paul Wambugu, officers on patrol had received information about thugs who were waylaying and robbing people during the morning rush hour.
The two were suspected to be members of a group of four who were notorious for robbing people on their way to work.
They had terrorized residents for a long time and had previously been arrested for similar crimes.
According to the police chief, when challenged to surrender, the suspected criminals refused, prompting the police to open fire.
He said four guns have been recovered so far since Saturday, even as officers intensify efforts to combat runaway crime in the area.
