Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has responded to the plight of suffering Kenyans affected by floods from ongoing heavy downpour that has so far killed 169 people countrywide and pledged a Sh2million donation to Kenya Red Cross Society to support those affected.
In a statement on today, Uhuru said that the money will provide relief and essential aid to the flood victims. He further extended his thoughts and prayers to the flood victims, assuring Kenyans to stand in solidarity with them.
“The relentless rainfall has caused significant damage, displacing families, destroying infrastructure, and claiming precious lives. During this time of profound loss and despair, my thoughts and prayers are with the affected communities as they cope with the aftermath of this natural disaster.” The retired Head of State said.
“As a nation, we must stand together in the face of adversity, demonstrating compassion, resilience, and solidarity with one another.” He added.
Uhuru also urged Kenyans to exercise caution by avoiding flood-prone areas and relocating to higher grounds during the disaster.
He went on to call on healthcare providers to tend to the injured flood victims amid their ongoing strike, stressing that they address their demands through dialogue.
“Together, let us navigate through these difficult times, emerging stronger, more resilient, and more united than ever before.” The retired president added.
