Most students expressed jubilation while others were not really satisfied with the Form One placement results as announced yesterday by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
According to Machogu, the process was carried out in a way that ensured fairness in the placement of the 2022 KCPE Examination candidates and was based on choice, merit and availability of space.
“The Ministry of Education placed students to various secondary schools using merit, choice, and availability of space,” he noted.
In the placement, all candidates who scored 400 marks and above were placed in National or Extra County schools of their choice.
The Special Needs Education candidates were also placed in the regular schools of their preference, while others were placed in special schools based on their disability categories on merit and choice.
County schools on the other hand got 107,461 female and 91,566 male candidates according to the CS.
Extra-county schools got 111,105 female and 91,566 male students.
In a statement yesterday, Machogu noted that parents and guardians who may be dissatisfied with the placements may approach desired schools.
“Parents are asked to take their learners to the schools they have been placed in. Those who may not be satisfied may approach desired schools for assistance,” Machogu’s statement reads in part.
The Ministry of Education has advised parents and guardians who may be dissatisfied with Form One placements on the next action to take.
The ministry also directed that all Form One students should report to schools between February 6 and February 13.
Machogu also reiterated that all Form One students’ details should be captured on the National Education Management System (NEMIS) by March 2.
