Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has announced that schools will be able to access the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results from today.
He was speaking during the release of Form One placement results of the 2022 KCPE candidates at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).
According to the education review team recommendations by the Kenya National Education Council (KNEC) CEO David Njengere, the Grade 6 results will come in three reports.
The council asked teachers to help parents and learners to interpret the results for easy understanding.
The CS yesterday said that the over 1,253, 577 learners who sat for the KPSEA in 32,555 centers towards the end of last year will all transit to junior secondary.
Machogu announced that the government has set aside Sh15,000 meant for every single learner under the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
President William Ruto directed the ministry to allocate a total of Sh9.6 billion for all the learners in Grade 7 and said that no learners will be sent home for tuition fee unless the school offers boarding services.
Machogu hinted that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is in the process of hiring 30,000 teachers to aid in Junior Secondary Schools as they have been prepared accordingly.
Yesterday, the CS said that the Junior Secondary School’s uniform be changed based on agreement by the respective board of management decision of every individual school.
Machogu called on every institution to come up with the desired colour and type of uniform for the learners and asked parents to bear the sole expense for the uniforms.
However, education stakeholders lead by Dr. Constantine Wesonga, the secretary general of the University Staff Association (UASU) have quashed the sentiments by the CS insisting that the Sh15,000 allocations to every learner is not enough.
He said that the hiring of 30,000 teachers is not enough to cater for the growing number of learners.
“We are calling on the ministry to get serious… 8,000 teachers of the 30,000 are set to replace the teachers who have proceeded to retirement,” he claimed.
Parents have continued to raise eyebrows as they joined the bandwagon claiming that the Sh15,000 allocations to every learner is insufficient for the whole year.
Employ teachers not hiring.
