KeNHA announced expected traffic disruption at Katani area
They called on Motorists to follow the laid-out traffic management plan and cooperate with the traffic marshals and police who will be on site.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced an expected traffic disruption along Mombasa Road at the Katani Junction this weekend.
In A notice to motorists and other road users, KeNHA stated that the disruption shall commence at 10 pm on Saturday and extend to Sunday at 6 am.
The Authority added that they will be installing the fabricated footbridge beam, hence the disruption.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Road near Katani Road Junction will experience traffic disruptions from Saturday at 10:00 pm to Sunday, 6:00 am for the installation of the fabricated footbridge beam,” the notice stated in part.
It called on Motorists to follow the laid-out traffic management plan and cooperate with the traffic marshals and police who will be on site.
The notice comes two days after they finished the normal maintenance along Thika Road at the Kihunguro area.
The super highway had been closed at the Kihunguro area since last Friday until this Monday to allow maintenance of the road at the stated section.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption following the closure of a section of the Thika Super Highway (S1) road at Kihunguro from Friday to Monday. This is to allow Highway Maintenance along the section,” KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u stated in the notice.
KeNHA was re-carpeting the highway at the Kihunguro area, as the speed bumps around the area were also removed.
There have been reports that the bumps have been a cause of reckless crossing by pedestrians, causing a traffic snarl-up.
Though the removal was welcomed, KeNHA was blamed for not making a prior alert to motorists over the scheduled works.
