Anyien in top form in Round 2 of Kenya Junior Strokeplay

Kayden Wissanji, who finished tenth in round one, was forced to retire with an injury

The leader board at the 2025 Kenya Junior Strokeplay championship changed in round two with joint overnight leader Krish Beiju relegated to the second position in the tournament played at Muthaiga Golf Club today.

The day belonged to Kevin Anyien who did not feature in the top ten in the first round. He managed only one birdie in round one for a score of 11 over par 82. But in round 2, Anyien was in great form as he picked five birdies. He only had two bogeys and one double bogey for a score of one under par 70 on the day. His overall score however is ten over par 152, four strokes off the lead and three shots behind second-placed Krish Shah.

Junaid Manji, who finished fourth after round one with a score of five over par 76, was in better form in round two to shoot to the top of the leader board. Manji who picked three birdies in round one followed that up with five birdies in round two for an impressive one over par 72 score on the day, six over par 148 in total.

Krish Shah had a torrid time in round two, picking three birdies that were wiped out by 4 bogeys and three double bogeys. His score of 80 on the day gave him a total of nine over par 151, three strokes behind the leader.

The top girl at the moment is Kanana Muthomi in seventh position on the leader board. Her score of 76 on the day and 14 over par 156 gives her some hard work in round three and four if she is to end up on the podium.

Of the 99 registered players for the tournament, only 32 have made the cut in the fierce competition. Ivan Nalima had hopes of making the cut but things did not work out as planned.

‘My day two was less than what I wanted to do, but I made a few mistakes I can learn from. Me personally I just didn’t get my expectations, my putting let me down,” explained Nalima.

Kayden Wissanji, who finished tenth in round one, was forced to retire with an injury. Kayden retired after the first nine in round two where he picked two birdies but had three bogeys.

“My day two was quite an adventure. I was unfortunately forced to withdraw due to an injury. It is always hard to play with an injury, so I did as much as I could, but yeah, I had to withdraw,” he said.
