Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has hailed the late former Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha for his devotion in the Education docket that he held during his administration.
Speaking today while attending Magoha’s funeral service in Siaya county, the former Head of State eulogized Magoha as an academic giant who fought inequality in education.
“Magoha made sure that no child was left without an opportunity for education. He made sure no child ended his education in standard eight because of lack of school fees or facilities. That was his commitment to education and the children of this country,” he said.
The former President added that the late education scholar brought sanity in national examinations by managing to eradicate any form of exam irregularities that had pervaded the country before he was appointed to head the education docket.
He also lauded the late CS for managing to move the transition rate from primary to secondary education to 100 percent for the very first time.
“He went further and worked with his ministerial colleagues in East Africa to develop standards for universities that are now emulated not only in East African countries but also in Malawi and Zambia,” he added.
