Former kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who also doubles as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader, an affiliate party to the opposition’s Azimio One Kenya Coalition has been arrested alongside his two wives by detectives attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over the alleged embezzlement of Sh1.3billion during his two terms in office.
The trio are currently being detained at the Integrity Center Police Station.
EACC headquarters is also a gazette police station.
They were arrested and taken for questioning at the EACC headquarters in Nairobi hours after detectives raided their homes in Langata constituency, Nairobi and Kakamega county simultaneously.
Sources claim that the former county boss has been arrested for allegedly embezzling over Sh1.3 billion during his tenure.
Oparanya has served as Kakamega County Governor for two constitutional terms.
