A multi-agency team drawn from the General Service Unit (GSU), Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) and Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) have retrieved 3 bodies of officers killed in an ambush by suspected bandits along the Kitale- Lodwar highway.
According to a police report, the officers had visited the scene where the yesterday ambush had happened but were also fired at by armed bandits.
They however managed to recover three bodies of the fallen officers who were missing and had succumbed to the injuries.
According to the report, the fallen officers were stripped naked and their arms and uniforms stolen.
The police vehicles used by the slain officers were vandalised and one of them set on fire.
The three officers were attacked 5 kilometers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Camp towards Kalong.
The attack resulted in injuries to eight officers and a civilian passenger.
They were rushed to Kainuk Health Centre and later referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Eldoret for further treatment.
