Health Principal Secretary, State Department for Health Standards and Professional Management Dr. Josephine Mburu has called for synergy amongst players in the health sector to realise successful implementation of the national health policies.
Speaking earlier today during the induction of the 47 appointed County Executive Committee Members drawn from the 47 counties for Health in Mombasa, she underscored cohesion between the Ministry of Health, county governments and and development partners as a key and pivotal aspect in the rollout of healthcare agenda.
“Over the last ten years of devolution, there are gains which have been achieved in the health sector that we need to protect, including improved access to health services, increased health workforce as well as infrastructural development. However, as in any system, we had some challenges, which I am certain, working closely with the Council of Governors and yourselves, we can ameliorate, through trust and open discussion.” She said.
She committed the ministry will work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure, quality, affordable and accessible healthcare services to Kenyans.
She added that the ministry will ensure that counties are fully supported to implement health polices and strategies developed jointly.
The three-day induction forum for the CECM for health is aimed at helping them understand the functioning of County Departments for Health in relation to the Ministry of Health.
