Politician-cum-entrepreneur Jimnah Mbaru has refuted claims that he was interviewed by Kenya Kwanza coalition for the position of deputy governor.
In a tweet, Mbaru said that he has not had contact with Sakaja neither had he been in touch with any of his people in regards to the matter relating to the role, as mentioned in a local daily.
Mbaru questioned how he would have met the aspirant and yet he was not even a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
“I would like to clarify that I have never met Hon Sakaja or his representatives for an interview or any other procedure or process related to the Nairobi County Gubernatorial race, unlike what was stated in Daily Nation of 27th April. I am not even a member of UDA Party,” Mbaru wrote in a tweet.
In an interview with a local daily, Sakaja, who has chosen Absa Bank Kenya Ltd Chief Operating Officer James Njoroge Muchiri to deputise him, said that the Kenya Kwanza coalition took the process of naming his deputy seriously and had conducted a couple of interviews including one with Jimnah Mbaru, and Paul Kinuthia of Nice and Lovely before getting the best fit.
Sakaja, who will battle it out with Azimio’s Polycarp Igathe deputized by former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki had said that the selection process had ensured that Kenyans were getting value from their elected leaders.
With Mbaru denying that he took part in the interview, questions now linger on why Sakaja lied and how the Kenya Kwanza coalition came up with a final candidate.
The most critical question being who is fooling who?
