The tourism sector in Kenya is feeling the impact of Ukraine-Russia war, with a dip in the number of tourists booking and cancellations.
According to the Kenya Coast Association (KCA), the number of tourists that visit Kenya from the Eastern Europe Market has reduced significantly in the recent past due to the war in Ukraine.
Victor Shitakha, the association chairman, countified the dip in numbers stating that Kenya received at least 200 tourists every ten days.
Apart from losing the Ukraine market, the Kenyan tourism sector will likely face a major decrease in the number of tourists visiting the country due to the August 9 general election.
Every election cycle, the tourism sector in Kenya suffers decreased numbers due to fears of post-election violence.
Apart from the cancellations made by Ukraine nationals, Shitakha says that the Polish have also become jittery, which means that only stability in Ukraine will make significant changes for the tourism sector.
