Six tourists perish after bus plunged into a ditch in Nyandarua

At least six Indian tourists were killed and 27 others sustained deep and soft wound injuries after their bus they were traveling in rolled into a ditch at Gichaka, along Ol Jororok-Nakuru road, Nyandarua county yesterday afternoon.

Search for three other people who were not accounted for at the scene went into the night yesterday.
The bus plunged into a ditch as the driver, who is among those who survived the accident was negotiating a corner near Uhuru Comprehensive school at Gichaka area.
Police said the group was travelling to Panari Resort, Nyahururu when the tour bus they were using plunged into a ditch.

Residents rushed to their rescue before police arrived to take the injured to the hospital.
The bus is said to have rolled into a steep area almost 100 meters deep, which was challenging in the rescue mission.
Police said the tourists-28 in total, and three local guides and a driver were on board the bus at the time of the accident.
The area is emerging as a popular destination for many tourists.
