Ruto allies clash with Gachagua as leaders launch school projects in Turbo

Kenya Kwanza leaders have used the handover of new infrastructure at Chepsaita Senior School in Turbo constituency, Uasin Gishu County, to defend the government’s development record and attack opposition politics.
The leaders, led by Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, President William Ruto’s political aide Farouk Kibet, Tourism Principal Secretary Julius Bitok and Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea, presided over the handover of newly constructed classrooms, a fully equipped science laboratory and a dormitory.
Kibet commended investors supporting education infrastructure, including the M-PESA Foundation, saying improved learning facilities were critical to expanding opportunities for young people.
He said education had contributed to improved livelihoods and helped reduce poverty in the region, while crediting the Ruto administration with projects aimed at transforming Turbo and the wider Uasin Gishu area.
Kibet cited the Chepterwai–Chimoi tarmac road, investment in Chepsaita Senior School, markets and industrial projects as some of the developments being undertaken in the constituency.
He also cautioned politicians against exploiting young people for political purposes, urging leaders to instead create meaningful economic opportunities for the youth.
“Instead of using young people for political purposes, we should give them opportunities that can change their lives,” Kibet said.
Cheruiyot, however, shifted the focus to politics, taking issue with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his public statements and political conduct.
The Senate Majority Leader urged Gachagua to respect other leaders and exercise restraint in his political engagements.
Cheruiyot also criticised politicians he accused of promoting divisive politics and called on retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to remain in retirement and allow the current administration to implement its agenda.
He challenged the opposition to offer Kenyans a clear policy alternative rather than campaigning around calls for President Ruto to serve only one term.
At the school, Bitok said the government remained committed to improving education infrastructure and supporting the implementation of the Competency-Based Education system.
He also announced plans for collaboration between the Ministries of Education and Tourism to promote sports tourism in schools.
Bitok said the initiative would help identify and nurture sporting talent among learners while creating additional opportunities for young people.
The leaders said investment in school infrastructure would improve learning conditions and expand opportunities for students, while also supporting the wider economic development of the region.
