ODM settle on late Kamoti’s younger brother to defend Rabai seat

Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has settled on the late Rabai MP William Kamoti’s younger brother, Mohamed Mdigo Mwamkale as the candidate for the Rabai parliamentary seat.

Mdigo was a former chairman of the Mariakani town council between 2002 and 2007.

According to the Kilifi ODM chairperson Teddy Mwambire, the party settled on Mohamed Mdigo Mwamkale, former chairperson of the Mariakani town council, due to his history of diligence.

“We are waiting for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to clear him for us to announce that he is the ODM candidate,” Mwambire said.

Late Kamoti died in a road accident on the Kilifi-Mombasa highway as he was heading home after being cleared to vie for the seat.

Leaders from the Coast region yesterday called on Raila to replace the late Rabai MP Kamoti with one of his kins following his sudden death.
