Mary Wanjiru, aged 38 years has been charged with giving false information to a person employed in the public service commission (PSC) as a police officer contrary to section 129 (a) of the Penal Code
A jilted woman who gave police false information linking her ex-lover to the abduction of a missing businesswoman abducted in Eastleigh, Nairobi on May 14, 2025 is facing charges of giving false information to the police.
Mary Wanjiru, aged 38 years has been charged with giving false information to a person employed in the public service commission (PSC) as a police officer contrary to section 129 (a) of the Penal Code.
The suspect lied to an officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Embakasi offices that her ex-boyfriend 46-year-old -Daniel King’ori had abducted Susan Wangeci and alleged that her ex-lover and the missing businesswoman had a love affair.
Wanjiru is accused of giving information to Police constable Allan Mpaima employed by the PSC as a police officer, on May 31, 2025 at Embakasi police station in Nairobi.
“You informed PC Mpaima a person employed by the PSC as police officer, that you had witnessed Daniel King’ori abducting one female namely Susan Wangeci at Eastleigh area, information you knew or believed to be false, intending thereby to cause PC Mpaima to use his powers to book in custody one Daniel King’ori vide Kware Police station,” reads the charge.
She denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Renee Kitangwa of Makadara law courts and was released on a cash bail of Sh30, 000 with an alternative bond of Sh100, 000.
Wanjiru allegedly told Police Constable Mpaima that she witnessed King’ori and Wangeci getting into a car that she could not identify, while recording her statement over Wangeci’s abduction.
The suspect had reached out to Wangeci’s family after getting their contacts on social media and informed them that she knew who had abducted their kin and they reported the same to police leading to her arrest.
King’ori was also arrested and both were placed in custody.
However, DCI investigations established that King’ori was not within the Eastleigh area when Wangeci was abducted and did not know Wangeci, contrary to Wanjiru claims that the two were lovers even though both have spouses.
DCI also established that King’ori had dumped Wanjiru and the suspect had cooked up the story linking him to the abduction in revenge after their nasty breakup.
The investigations revealed that King’ori had been charged with assaulting Wanjiru and occasioning her actual bodily harm contrary to section 251 of the Penal Code vide MCCR 1433/2023 at Makadara law courts and Wanjiru had also been in a criminal matter at the same court, where King’ori’s goat wife is the complainant.
The two cases have been dropped after parties settled the matters out of court and agreed to stop attending court so that the cases can be struck out.
King’ori was released after DCI found no evidence against him, after detaining him for 14 days during investigations into Wangeci’s abduction.
He told DCI during his stay in custody that he shall never be involved in extra marital affairs.
Wangeci is still missing.
Wanjiru’s case will be mentioned on July 1, 2025.
