National volleyball refereeing and coaching course underway in Kilifi
Both theoretical and hands-on sessions are underway, with participants showing great energy and dedication to learning
The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has officially launched the National Refereeing Level One and Coaching Course Level One at Uwanja wa Water Ground in Kilifi County.
The week-long programme, running from April 13 to 20, brings together 56 enthusiastic participants from different regions of the country.
The course aims to sharpen the skills of 45 aspiring referees and 11 upcoming coaches, setting a strong foundation for the future of volleyball in Kenya.
Henry Mwambu Mwarumbe is spearheading the training as the Course Director, leading an expert team that includes referee instructors Nicodemus Onsogo and Millicent Wangari Wahome, as well as coaching instructor George Ochieng Amoloh.
Both theoretical and hands-on sessions are underway, with participants showing great energy and dedication to learning.
“This course is a critical step in strengthening our technical capacity and raising the quality of volleyball across the country,” said KVF Course Director Henry Nyambu.
KVF applauds all the participants for their passion and commitment to the game and looks forward to the impact they will make in their communities and beyond.
Meanwhile, The National Homologated Beach Volleyball Tournament hosted at the picturesque Tiwi Beach Resort, Diani (Kwale County) is set for 19th–20th April 2025.
Registration officially closed on 16th April 2025, and preparations are now in top gear. The Draw of Lots will be held today, 17th April 2025, with team matchups determined on a first come, first served basis.
This FIVB-sanctioned event promises high-level competition and is a critical opportunity for teams to earn national ranking points under official beach volleyball regulations.
At the same time, the Kenya Volleyball Federation has announced an invitation to all qualified volleyball coaches across Kenya to apply for the prestigious FIVB Level I Coaches Course, which is set to be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from July 8 to July 12, 2025. It is hosted by the Tanzania Volleyball Federation, in collaboration with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
KVF President Charles Nyaberi stated: “We are committed to empowering our coaches through world-class training opportunities like the FIVB Level I Coaches Course. We encourage all eligible candidates to send their applications with all the specified supporting documents through KVF Secretariat ASAP. First come, first served!”
