Media personalities to lead communications strategy in Ruto’s office

Six media and communications personalities have earned appointments to the Presidential-Government Delivery Unit (PDU) in an effort to boost delivery and communications efforts in President William Ruto’s administration.

Announcing the appointments through a circular, Deputy Chief of Staff for Performance and Delivery Management in the Office of the President Eliud Owalo emphasised the need for a revamp of the government’s communications strategy in relation to the implementation of projects and programmes.

Leading the key appointments is Dr Carole Mandi, a renowned Strategic Communications Advisor, who is also the Founder and Ex-Managing Editor of the True Love Magazine.

The veteran media figure has previously also worked in the Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy in the Publishing & Editing Department.

Previously, she worked as Sub-Editor for the Nation Media Group. The Entrepreneur, who runs the Carole Mandi Media Group, is also a business leader and an author.

Another key figure amongst the Government’s recent appointments is Ms Archie Achieng Ojany, who is the immediate former Kisumu County Executive in-charge of Tourism, Sports, Arts & Culture.

The brand specialist brings onboard years of experience in the communications world having worked in various leading organisations.

An economist by training, Ojany  is an accredited business coach.

Her professional background is in Marketing and Advertising where she was EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Account Director for two of the leading global agencies – McCann Erickson London and Leo Burnett London some of the leading global brands. Ojany brings onboard years of proven governance and leadership alongside resource mobilisation acumen.

Also enlisted in the PDU is Patrick Amimo, a former Editor at Kenya Television Network (KTN). He is a holder of BA in Sociology from Moi University and also a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism.

Amimo, who worked for a long period with the Standard Group and Nation Media Group, brings a wealth of experience as well in the line of Communications.

He is joined in the office by his former colleague Boniface Odinga, who has served previously as a Communications Advisor at the Siaya County Government and as a lecturer at Maseno University and United States International University (USIU).

Wambui Ngayu and Alloyce Obare, who were also tapped, bring specialisation in branding strategy.

Obare also served as Delivery Advisor in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, and Chief of Staff in the County Government of Siaya.

An advertising expert and practitioner, Ng’ayu also has experience working at various media stations especially TV.

In a statement, Owalo announced that the team will primarily focus on maintaining clear communication about government plans and their progress.

“The focus is to ensure clear communication about government plans and their progress,” he said.
