Kenya, Germany to intensify ties on climate protection

President William Ruto has disclosed that Kenya will intensify its ties with Germany in climate protection.

Speaking during a dinner meeting hosted by the Deustech Afrika Stiftung and the German Bundestag in Berlin, Germany, President Ruto said the two countries will escalate the relationship to exploit the emerging opportunities and confront new challenges that face us.

According to the Head of State, other areas of cooperation between the two countries will include the development of climate-compatible energy systems and adapting to the consequences of climate change.

“Kenya values the rich and special friendship that it continues to enjoy with Germany,” he said.

Earlier, during a meeting with Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Ibrahim Thiaw in Steglitz, President Ruto noted there was need for an urgent collective action on climate change is necessary to stop this global threat to humanity.

“We require a candid conversation about how we adapt and protect vulnerable populations without leaving entire regions of the world behind,” he said.
