Kajiado MCA dies after undergoing treatment in ICU
Saitoti served as the minority whip having been elected on a Wiper Party ticket
The Member of Country Assembly for Purko ward in Kajiado Simon Mumeita Saitoti has passed away.
His death has been confirmed by Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who said the 42-year-old died while receiving treatment.
The governor added that the legislator was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the time of his passing, where he has been since last week.
“I have received in utter shock the sudden demise of Purko Ward MCA, Hon. Simon Saitoti, at a Nairobi hospital where he was undergoing treatment after a short illness,” ole Lenku announced.
Mourning Saitoti, Ole Lenku said it is a great loss to the political fraternity, his family, and the residents of Purko.
The governor eulogised him as an exemplified humble servant leader since his days in the disciplined forces.
“For the last two and a half years that he served as an elected leader, he stood out as a voice of reason and always advocated for diplomacy to resolve any matters that arose in the county,” ole Lenku stated in his eulogy.
Saitoti served as the Minority Whip at the Kajiado County Assembly having been elected to the 3rd County Assembly on a Wiper Party ticket.
Until his passing, the legislator served as the committee member for the House Business Committee, Roads and Transport, Public Works and Energy Committee, Trade, Investments and Enterprise Development Committee, and the Rules and Procedures Committees.
Kajiado County Assembly Speaker Justus Ngossor also eulogised the lawmaker as a gallant soldier, a friend, and a colleague whose service shall be missed.
The Speaker revealed that the MCA was admitted to the ICU until yesterday evening when he passed away following a surgery he had undergone.
The Assembly is expected to lead in his making plans for his burial.
