Raila, Ruto sign agreement to work together

President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have formally signed a memorandum of Understanding days after the failed Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship bid.
The MoU now formalises the broad-based government arrangement that saw five ODM luminaries join Ruto’s Cabinet
The agreement between Ruto’s UDA and Raila’s ODM was announced this afternoon at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).
Speaking before the Signing of the documents, ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna read out some of its contents, including full implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, which addresses employment matters and the cost of living are among the top key priorities of the collaboration.
Sifuna stated that they have also agreed to enhance inclusivity among Kenyans regardless of their religion.
According to the leaders, enhancing inclusivity will improve opportunities for all Kenyans in public appointments.

The agreement between the two party leaders was announced this afternoon at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).
“Raila and Ruto have seen the urge to set a broad platform and cooperation between political forces and other stakeholders in the Kenyan society,” Sifuna stated.
Sifuna stated that they have also agreed to enhance inclusivity among Kenyans regardless of their religion.

“The two leaders have committed and resolved to collaborate and conduct broad-based consultations on the implementation of the key priorities of the NADCO report, including the costs of living, youth employment, and the two-thirds gender rule,” Sifuna stated.
In the two political parties’ agreement, the government has committed to exercising peaceful assembly and compensating the pending claims of protest victims.
Further, in the agreement, the government also committed to exercising the right to peaceful assembly, and compensation of all pending claims of rights victims. Under the broad-based government, the duo also heeded to protect devolution as provided by the 2010 Constitution, which allowed the establishment of the 47 counties.
The MoU signing comes after Raila’s consultative tours across the country as he sought Kenyans’ input on his next political move.
