ICT CS Kabogo urge individuals and enterprises to upscale cybersecurity safeguards
The government has called upon personal and institutional pro-activeness against cybersecurity breaches in the wake of rampant breaches targeting individuals and organisations.
Information, Communication, and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo said cybersecurity is a shared responsibility from both the businesses and individuals to forestall anything harmful, they need to adopt the five measures.
Kabogo said there is a need for organisations and individuals to regularly update their passwords and enable multi-factor authentication where possible to pre-empt any issue that can compromise data.
He cautioned that people must be cautious about sharing sensitive personal information online. “Verify the authenticity of websites and e-mails to avoid falling victim to phishing attacks,” the CS said.
Kabogo said businesses must ensure that their devices have the latest security updates and antivirus software installed and regularly back up important data to security locations.
The CS said the ministry, through its respective agencies, will issue further guidance and advisories to assist the public in understanding best practices for data protections and privacy.
