Gachagua to Ruto: Relax, we will wait for 2027 to kick you out of office
The former Deputy President has affirmed that the opposition is focused on 2027 as he alleged that Ruto is fabricating the claims to clamp down on dissent
Democracy for Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed plans to unconstitutionally unseat President William Ruto as claimed by the Head of State.
Addressing the Press today, Gachagua said that by chanting ‘Wantam’, they do not plan to take power outside the law but will face the incumbent president during the next General Election on the ballot.
Gachagua has insisted that the campaign by the opposition team is grounded in the Constitution and not aimed at destabilizing the government.
“Nobody wants to overthrow your government, nobody wants you out of power through unconstitutional means,” Gachagua stated.
“We want to advise you that the ‘Wantam’ movement is not getting you out of power outside the Constitution,” he added.

“Nobody wants you out of government unconstitutionally. We want to face you on the ballot in August 2027, so just relax. This is just an excuse to persecute opposition leaders,” Gachagua said.
His response comes after Ruto while inspecting the ongoing construction of police houses at the Kilimani area earlier on Wednesday, President William Ruto accused a faction of politicians of planning to destabilize the Kenya Kwanza administration by funding protesters.
Ruto issued a stern warning to a faction of leaders he has accused of fueling demonstrations across the country, adding that his government will not allow destruction and lawlessness.
Ruto further dismissed attempts to intimidate and destabilise his government through tribalism, adding that the games of tribal cards and pride should be put aside, maintain that peace must prevail.
“This pride they are trying to bring to me, what is it all about? These games need to stop. Let us sort out our problems. Put tribalism, hate, and pride aside. All of us are Kenyans, and no one is above the other. You can call me whatever names you want, but I will make sure that there is peace and stability in Kenya by all means possible,” he stated.
