Fresh details emerge over the Mirema Springs gangland execution in Kasarani

Fresh details have emerged over the gangland execution of a man along Mirema Springs off Mirema Drive in Kasarani, Nairobi.

In the footage seen by The Informer, a lone gunman is seen opening fire against the deceased identified as Samuel Mugo Mugota, alias ‘Keupe’ at point-blank range and severally firing before escaping into an awaiting getaway saloon car.

However, claims that the deceased was on a police watch list over involvement in criminal activities is likely to thrust investigations by homicide detectives at Kasarani Police Station into a multi-pronged probe.

He is accused of leading a criminal syndicate and allegedly using stolen phones to access and withdraw money from bank accounts of victims.

Preliminary police findings show he was shot severally on the chest and six spent cartridges of 9mm caliber used in Ceska Pistol were recovered at the scene of crime.

Also, four mobile phones and several identity cards were recovered.

Also, the investigators will seek to establish the motive of the broad daylight execution.

The victim, who was driving a compact SUV, a Honda CRV in make, registration number KBY 453R drove to his death trap where the assailants were waiting for him.

“It is really difficult to comprehend what really happened or what was the motive because nothing was stolen from the victim,” Kasarani OCPD, Peter Mwanzo stated.

Phones and laptops believed to have been stolen were also recovered from the car.

The deceased Moses Njoroge was discovered in his car moments after he had been shot in the chest.

“he was dropping his daughter home from school when a white Toyota Premio saloon car approached him and blocked his car,” an eyewitness revealed.

The footage, which is part of the evidence police are relying on in the probe further shows how the daring assassin went back to his car before fleeing.

The suspect then drove off leaving residents scampering for safety.

According to the footage, before engaging his weapon, the shooter is seen drawing it but hides it after a female pedestrian walks past the victim’s vehicle.

Cognisant of the danger around her, the female pedestrian begins walking back, ducking her head in the process.

She successfully escapes the scene as the assailant fires four successive rounds.

After the first four shots, the vehicle is seen trying to move. The shooter then intercepts it and fires two more rounds incapacitating the driver and effectively bringing the vehicle to a halt.

He dashed to the saloon car that lay in wait and it took off, leaving the victim for the dead.

Sleuths probing the unfortunate incident reveal that they discovered several identity cards in the blood-stained car.

The detectives further revealed discovery of money in different currencies from the victim’s vehicle.

The recent unfolding signaled a possibility of a good deal gone south.
