Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday took his campaign to Azimio la Umoja running mate Martha Karua’s home turf to drum up support for his party ahead of the August 2022 poll.
DP Ruto took the opportunity consolidate his already existing popularity in the Mt Kenya region.
He urged his supporters to ensure that they vote in their numbers come the August 9.
Ruto alluding to his bottom’s up approach as the economic saviour to the economy assured Kenyans from the Mt. Kenya region that he was ready to revive the economy as well as create jobs.
The DP also asked his supporters to ensure that they align themselves with the winning team and ensure that they vote for the Ruto-led team from the top to the MCA position.
Ruto dismissed the choice of Azimio la Umoja’s running mate, saying that the Raila should not hide behind Karua to attract votes from the region.
DP Ruto was accompanied by his running mate Rigathi Gachagwa who took the opportunity to castigate Principal Secretary in the State Department of Interior Dr Karanja Kibicho by telling him to keep off the affairs of the people of Kirinyaga.
He also put the PS on alert, saying that the Ruto-led team would ensure that they protect their votes come the elections day.
The DP was accompanied by, among the leaders, Tharaka Nithi’s Kithure Kindiki, Kandara MP Alice Wahome, Governor Anne Waiguru, Kimani Ichung’wah, Ndindi Nyoro and Kimani Ngunjiri and Gatundu MP Moses Kuria.
