Detectives arrest suspects in the murder of Kilifi IEBC official

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three suspects believed to have been involved in the gruesome murder of Kilifi County Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official Aisha Abubakar on January 5, 2025.
The three, Isa Omari, Brian Shikuku Mudari, and Bryan Templer Oyare, were flushed from their hideouts in separate but coordinated operations within the coastal region, following a one-week rigorous manhunt for the 3 a.m. daring robbery perpetrators.
The arrest comes after detectives from Kisauni took over the investigation, backed up by the Operation Support Unit (OSU) and Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau hawks.
The three were arrested following a forensic analysis in the course of which one of the stolen phones belonging to the deceased’s son and other crucial exhibits were recovered.
“Following a forensic analysis by detectives from Kisauni backed by the Operation Support Unit (OSU) and Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, three suspects Isa Omari, Brian Shikuku Mudari, and Bryan Templer Oyare were flashed from their hideouts in separate but coordinated operations within the coastal region,” the DCI said in a statement.
On the fateful morning, the deceased and her son were woken from their dead sleep by an unestablished number of home invaders, who forced entry into the abode by cutting the grills of the kitchen window.
Armed with crude weapons, the assailants knocked the son out before stabbing the homeowner severally amidst desperate pleas not to take her dear life.
As she bled her life out, the cold-blooded attackers made away with several valuables including two Samsung phones, an iPad, a 65″ TV set, a sound system, and ATM cards whose PINs they had demanded.
Good Samaritans who heard the commotion and thronged the scene made frantic efforts to save her life by rushing her to Premier Hospital in Nyali, but she was declared dead on arrival.
Investigations are still on to nab more perpetrators involved in the murder of the elections official.
