Co-op Bank supports NPS Annual Athletics Championship with Sh500,000
IG Kanja commended NPS’s sportsmen and sportswomen, who uphold the Service’s values while representing Kenya on international platforms

Co-operative Bank has injected Ksh 500,000 in support of the upcoming National Police Service (NPS) Annual Athletics Championship, scheduled for June 3-4 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
Presenting the cheque to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja at the NPS headquarters, Co-op Bank’s Head of Consumer Banking Jackson Muendo said they are committed to supporting the men and women in the service.
“Sports remain an integral part of the National Police Service (NPS), serving not only as a unifying force but also as a platform for promoting physical and mental well-being, fostering teamwork and discipline among officers, and enhancing overall morale and cohesion. Over the years, the NPS has established itself as a sports powerhouse, an achievement made possible by the steadfast support of our valued partners,” NPS said,
It added that heir commitment, demonstrated through resource provision and collaboration on various initiatives, has significantly strengthened the Service’s capacity.
During the handing over, Kanja expressed gratitude to all partners, not only for their support in sports but also in other endeavours. He added that these partnerships have enabled the Service to make consistent progress and deliver impactful results.
He also commended NPS’s sportsmen and sportswomen, who uphold the Service’s values while representing Kenya on international platforms.
He noted that their outstanding achievements bring honor to both the Service and the nation.
At the same time, Kanja acknowledged the Local Organising Committee, chaired by NPS Athletics Chairperson Stephen Etyang for their instrumental role in coordinating preparations and ensuring NPS athletes are well-positioned to excel as part of the national team.
