Gor Mahia CEO Ray Oruo parts ways with club after mutual agreement
The 21-time FKF-PL champions earlier announced the dismissal of the entire technical bench after a dismal season
Gor Mahia’s Chief Executive Officer Raymond Oruo has left the club after a mutual agreement with the club as the football giants continue to reel from their failure to clinch any trophy last season.
This has been revealed by the club chairman Ambrose Rachier in a short statement on its social handles hours after they mutually agreed to disband their entire technical bench, including the medical team, in a major shake-up.
“Gor Mahia wishes to announce that we have mutually parted ways with CEO Raymond Oruo following a mutual agreement with the club,” Rachier announced.
His departure brings to an end a nearly five-year tenure as the club’s top executive.
Earlier today, Gor Mahia, also famously referred to as K’Ogalo, announced a shakeup of their technical team led by the head coach Zedekiah Otieno.
The 21-time Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) champions announced the dismissal of the entire technical bench after a dismal season.
Rachier said the dismissals came after a comprehensive internal review and are part of the Club’s broader restructuring process aimed at strengthening its technical and operational capacity in preparation for the upcoming season.
“The separation has been reached amicably and in good faith, with the Club recognising and appreciating the contributions made by the outgoing staff. We extend our sincere gratitude to the individuals involved for their commitment, professionalism, and service to the Club during their tenure,” Rachier added.
Fans have been accusing Rachier of failing to stamp his authority, adding that Zico has been undermining coaches hired by the club to be the number one and not the assistant.
Fans have been baying for his blood over his poor performance, with the last weekend being the latest, where he was forced to flee and hide in one of the rooms at Ulinzi Complex to avoid the anger of the fans after losing 1-2 against the Mozart Cup winners, Nairobi United.
The coach has been on the spot for undermining support by fans, saying they have little or no impact on how players perform in games, which has been making supporters of the giant football club to an increase in calls for his sacking.
