Poor decision-making and handling errors were the greatest undoing’s for the Kenya Simba in the final of the 2022 Rugby Africa Cup doubling up as the 2023 Rugby World Cup Africa.
Kenya Simbas lost 36-0 to Namibia in the qualifier played on Sunday night at Stade Maurice David, Aix-en-Provence in France.
It was one-way traffic as the Namibians led 15-0 against the Simbas just before the intervals only for them to add 23 more points to cement the unbeaten streak against Kenya given the Paul Odera-coached side have not beaten Namibia since 2014.
Courtesy of the win Namibia has now qualified for the 2023 World Cup and will be pooled in Pool A at RWC 2023, alongside hosts France, New Zealand, Italy, and Uruguay.
Kenya, meanwhile, will compete in the Final Qualification Tournament in November for a chance to qualify for the global tournament for the first time.
The Simbas knocked out Algeria 36-33 in a tense semi-final to reach the finals. Kenya also registered a big 42-7 win over Uganda in the quarter-finals.
