KPC fire warning shot in Africa, crush Ghana’s KSC 3-0 in Championship opener
Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Volleyball Club made a commanding start to their 2026 CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship campaign, sweeping past Ghana’s KSC in straight sets in their Pool A opener.
The Kenyan side delivered a clinical performance to secure a 3-0 victory, winning 25-19, 25-21, and 25-13 in a match that underscored their title ambitions.
From the first whistle, KPC looked sharp, combining disciplined defense with aggressive attacking play to overwhelm their opponents.
KPC seized early control in the opening set, using powerful serves and well-coordinated attacks to open up a comfortable lead. Although KSC attempted to stage a comeback midway through the set, the Kenyan team maintained composure and closed it out 25-19.
The second set proved more competitive, with the Ghanaian side tightening their defense and showing improved organization.
However, KPC’s experience and attacking depth made the difference. A series of decisive spikes and consistent serving allowed them to edge ahead and eventually claim the set 25-21.
By the third set, KPC were firmly in control. Their superior fitness and tactical execution came to the fore as they dominated rallies and capitalised on unforced errors from KSC.
The set quickly turned into a one-sided affair, with KPC cruising to a 25-13 win to seal the match in style.
The victory places KPC in a strong position early in the tournament and sends a clear message to their rivals about their intentions.
Their blend of teamwork, discipline, and attacking power makes them one of the standout teams to watch in this year’s competition.
Ahead of the tournament, the official technical meeting was held at Al Ahly Sporting Club, bringing together all participating teams and officials.
The session, led by African Volleyball Confederation president Bouchra Hajij, focused on confirming fixtures, rules, and final preparations, setting the stage for a competitive championship.
KPC will now turn their attention to upcoming group matches, where they are set to face La Loi of DR Congo, Sococim of Senegal, and Gender Light of Burundi.
These fixtures are expected to test the Kenyan side further as they aim to maintain their winning momentum and secure a place in the knockout stages.
