An unknown number of police officers are feared dead after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Divide (IED) in Garissa today.
Daadab Deputy County Commissioner Kipkurui Siele confirmed reports indicating that the explosive device blew after it was driven over.
“We have reports of a police vehicle hit by an explosive but I am yet to know the exact number of casualties,” Siele stated.
Siele added that the victims were Border Patrol Unit (BPU) who left the Abdi Suku camp in Daadab heading to Garissa.
The attack comes after another one that happened last month where engineers from the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) were targeted by suspected Al-Shabaab militants, who had set an IED along the LAPSSET road.
The explosion killed four people who were part of the convoy.
