The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has formally approved the Jubilee Party National Executive Committee (NEC) changes that kicked out three party officials for backing the Raila led Azimio One Kenya Coalition.
The Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu acknowledged the party’s move to suspend the officials saying the changes were procedural according to the party’s constitution.
“The Office has taken note of the contents of your submissions and the resolutions and acknowledges that the Party Constitution was in order in convening the meeting,” Nderitu said.
During the meeting held at Woodlands Hotel in Nakuru county on Friday, February 10, NEC suspended Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and replaced him with East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Kanini Kega.
The committee also resolved to kick out David Murathe as its National Vice-Chairperson and replaced him with Eldas Constituency Member of Parliament Adan Keynan.
Kagwe Gichohi was also removed as the National Treasurer and replaced by Kitui South Member of Parliament Rachel Nyamai.
Nderitu also asked the new officials to observe the Azimio agreement in exiting the alliance.
“Kindly observe the provisions of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition agreement and the role of respecting party organs,” she said.
The party’s Internal Dispute Resolution Mechanism is set to formally commence their official removal from the party.
Nderitu however asked the party to adhere to the provisions of the party Constitution as they undertake the process.
The decision to suspend the three officials came after close to 30 members of the divided party visited President William Ruto at State House on Wednesday February 8,2023.
The 30 members committed to working with President Ruto in his administration.
However, the other members led by the suspended Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni pledged their allegiance to Azimio One Kenya coalition.
