Lobby groups have committed to offer entrepreneurial training to enhance Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) competitiveness through application of Japanese management excellence.
The Kenya Institute of Business Training (KIBT) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) assembled a variety of small business owners and entrepreneurs aiming to learn and improve their skills.
Speaking at a workshop in Nairobi, the director of administration at the state department of cooperatives, Dr. Harun Komen said that they’re working to provide entrepreneurial training to Micro Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operators and other interest groups and provide counseling and extension services to MSME operators.
“We are on course to conduct business-based research and consultancy for MSMEs and other stakeholders, organise tailor-made training programs for the Institute’s clientele as and when the need arises,” he said.
“Through application of the Japanese Management Excellence we’re in route to improve entrepreneurial training to MSME operators and other interest groups as well as provide counselling and extension services,” he added.
According to KIBT project manager, Gideon Njogu, the organisation honors the country’s government for the creation of the Cooperatives and MSMEs ministry that will foster small business owners and open more opportunities.
“We want an ecosystem which enables growth of SMEs and start-ups promoted within the targeted areas. We want to ensure that quality business development service is developed for SMEs in the targeted areas,” said Njogu.
These centers will integrate entrepreneurship and technical graduate training into higher education courses.
