The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has flagged four filling stations for the sale of fuel meant for export and adulterated fuel.
Through a public notice, the authority undertook random surveillance during the period of July- September 2022.
“A total of 1360 tests were conducted at 256 petroleum sites. The four non-compliant stations include Delta Thika Road Service Station (Juja-toll in Kiambu), Frankstar Solution Filling Station, Mitua-Bungoma), King Size Filling Station, Mwala-Machakos) and Vivasa Energy Filling Station, Tuala-Isinya in Kajiado respectively,” the notice read.
EPRA said it is mandated under Section 92 of the Petroleum Act 2019 to monitor petroleum products offered for sale in the local market with the aim of preventing motor fuel adulteration or dumping of export-bound fuels.
“In this regard, the Authority undertakes a program of continuous monitoring of the quality of petroleum motor fuels on sale, transport and storage throughout the country,” read part of the statement.
