The Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula has made a statement concerning the leadership position conflict between Azimio One Kenya coalition and Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Speaking on the matter, the Speaker said that the issue was a simple matter that he will deal with when the House convenes.
“This is a simple matter, I will handle it when it comes to my attention,” Wetangula told the press at Safari Park hotel in Nairobi.
He, however, stated that the issue had not yet been brought to his attention.
Wetangula has a very big decision to handle as the duo political factions maintain that they have the largest numbers in the house and hence should be accorded with the Majority Leader and Majority whip positions.
Kenya Kwanza picked Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah as the majority leader while Azimio picked Opiyo Wandayi, Ugunja MP.
Concerning the matter, Kimani Ichung’wah stated that the matter was simple and just basic numbers but Azimio was complicating the issue.
“This is a simple matter that will be determined by the side with the numbers. What you are hearing from the other side is mere politicking which is expected of them,” Ichung’wah said.
Wandayi, while replying to the Kenya Kwanza claims, stated that Azimio currently had the majority numbers in the National Assembly.
“We are waiting for no ruling since the matter is clear on who has the numbers,” he said.
Queried on whether they would go to court if the speaker gave a ruling that was contrary to theirs, he stated that legal means was currently not an option.
