Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) has stated that they are ready to work with the incoming government led by president-elect William Ruto.
Speaking during a press conference MYWO chairperson Rahab Mwikali further congratulated Ruto for his win urging him to move on and to work with all Kenyans of goodwill.
“Those who supported you, those who did not, those who joined you on August 15, 2022 and those who are joining you today. Once again, I want to reiterate that MYWO works with the government of the day, and therefore commit to support you and your government and to work very closely with you in empowering women at the grassroots,” she said.
Mwikali saluted Kenyans for maintaining peace after the Supreme Court’s verdict.
“We continue to congratulate all Kenyans for upholding peace. May we continue with the same spirit and be our brother’s keeper,” she noted.
The Supreme Court yesterday upheld Ruto’s victory after first rejecting several of the petition’s major arguments.
In a unanimous ruling, the seven-judge panel, chaired by Chief Justice Martha Koome, rejected one of the key claims made against the ICT system.
Additionally, it was determined that Ruto received 50 per cent plus one votes, as reported by the electoral commission.
The presidential candidate for Azimio Raila Odinga argued in the appeal contesting Ruto’s victory that the electoral commission’s use of technology had serious flaws that prevented him from winning.
