A Kakamega court has ordered a witchdoctor from Shipala village in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County to refund back Sh30, 000 he obtained from his client Stephen Makunda.
Lazaro Inyani, the village’s witchdoctor is said to have been consulted by Makunda back in 2019 after the latter was forced to suffer losses at the hands of nagging thieves who could break into his compound and steal his property, particularly chicken.
Inyani immediately pounced to action after seizing the opportunity to solve Makunda’s plight and saw a win-win situation – one that would see him earn money and capture the notorious thieves for Makunda.
The witchdoctor promised that he would apply some herbal medicine in Makunda’s homestead to stop the rampant destruction and theft of property.
He assured Makunda that by the time he is finished, anyone attempting to steal from him will remain glued in the compound until he finds him.
Makunda was convinced by the witchdoctor’s proposal and immediately wired Sh10,000 as down payment to his M-Pesa line.
He would later wire another Sh5,000 and on August 29 of the same year, sent the final instalment of Sh15,000.
Inyani gave Makunda the magic herb that was in form of powder and leaves and sprinkle around the compound awaiting the magic to literally happen.
To his dismay, however, thieves continued to steal his property unperturbed.
It is for this reason that Makunda took Inyani to court, seeking to recover his Sh30,000.
“I, therefore, ask this court to compel Inyani to refund me my money since he failed to render the service that he promised to offer,” Makunda pleaded to the Kakamega small claims court.
After giving the case an earshot Magistrate Wayodi ordered the sorcerer to refund Makunda the said amount of Sh30,000.
