Adequate preparations have been put in place in order to ensure that the swearing in of governors today occurs successfully as half of the counties prepare to usher in new leadership.
Many county heads are expected to be sworn in today following the just concluded general election.
The counties where the swearing in ceremonies are expected to happen include; Kajiado, Kiambu, Makueni, Baringo, Kirinyaga, Samburu, Kisumu, Kitui, Marsabit, Taita Taveta, Laikipia, Wajir, Isiolo and Kwale.
In accordance to the constitution the inaugurations are to be conducted 10 days after announcement of election results and declaration of winners by the electoral commission.
The law of the land further states that the oath shall not take place earlier than 10:00AM and not later than 2:00pm.
The swearing in event is also expected to occur in a public ceremony before a High Court judge with the amount of money to be used in the swearing in function set to be decided by the governor.
The swearing-in ceremony of governors cannot be stopped by any election litigation; this is unlike the Presidential election where the President-elect cannot assume office in case of any election petition.
In the same breadth, the Judiciary has appointed 47 Judges to take charge of the ceremonies with only 45 governor -elect will be sworn in tomorrow after IEBC postponed elections in Kakamega and Mombasa.
Kirinyaga governor-elect Ann Waiguru will take oath of office at Kamiigua Polytechnic in Kutus town alongside her Deputy David Githanda at 10am.
Nyeri Governor elect, Mutahi Kahiga will be sworn in at the Asian Quarters bus park in Nyeri town at exactly 10am.
His Samburu counterpart Lati Lelelit will be sworn in at Kenyatta stadium alongside his Deputy Lenengwesi Samia.
Former Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka who has recaptured the Bungoma Governor’s seat he lost in 2017 will be sworn in at Kibabii University at 10am while Makueni Governor elect Mutula Kilonzo Junior will be sworn in at Unoa grounds in Wote town.
Other governors who will be sworn in include, Kiambu Governor elect, Kimani Wamatangi, Narok Governor elect Patrick Ole Ntutu, Isiolo Governor elect Abdi Ibrahim Guyo, Nyamira Governor elect Amos Nyaribo.
