The Russian Embassy in Kenya has congratulated President-elect William Ruto on his victory in the just concluded polls.
The embassy expressed its desire to continue and expand comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation with Kenya through its embassy.
“The Russian Federation Embassy in the Republic of Kenya has the honour to congratulate H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto on his election as President of Kenya,” read the statement.
The Russia Embassy expressed confidence in the cordial relations between the two countries and their people will be revitalised and strengthened.
However, yesterday, nine Embassies and High Commissions failed to acknowledge Ruto as the president-elect in a joint communiqué.
The nine were; Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Through a joint statement, the nine urged all political parties and political leaders to follow all laid out mechanisms for dispute resolution in accordance with the Kenya’s Constitution.
“We encourage all political parties and leaders to follow all existing mechanisms for dispute resolution as laid out by the Constitution,” the statement read in part.
Further, they lauded Kenyans, police, and non-state actors for setting an example to the region and the continent as a whole.
