Azimio One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga rocks rival Kenya Kwanza coalition led by Deputy president William Ruto from within after he pledges to accommodate Musalia Mudavadi in his government should he win the election despite him supporting Ruto.
The veteran presidential hopeful made the comments while campaigning in Vihiga County.
Vihiga County is Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader’s home turf.
Odinga while wooing the area residents said Mudavadi is currently supporting DP Ruto but he will not abandon him if he forms government.
“Mudavadi is like my son even though he went to the other side, when we form the government I will call him,” Odinga said.
Odinga and Mudavadi have political ties that bind them together going back to when the ANC leader deputised the former premier in 2007, in 2013 and 2017. He also supported his presidential bid when both were in CORD and NASA respectively.
However, the duo’s political relationship would disintegrate in July 2021 after the National Super Alliance’s existence came to an end.
The two would go on to part ways in January 2022, after the latter agreed to work with Odinga’s political nemesis William Ruto who was the chief guest during ANC National Delegates Conference.
Since then the two have been political rivals.
While in Vihiga Odinga took the opportunity to rally the residents and the western Kenya at large to vote in only Azimio candidates in all elective seats, and also urging them to turn up in large numbers on election day.
Kenyans have four more days remaining before the go to the polls to elect a new crop of leaders that will govern them for the next five years.
