Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has said the government has disbursed Sh16.9 billion capitation fee to support the education of students.
He warned school principals to stop sending learners home to collect school fees.
He also added that school heads should no longer complain about lack of funds.
“We are asked to retain learners in school but how will we feed them without money? How are we expected to pay workers, yet we don’t have money?” complained one of the principals.
The principal of Hospital Hill High School, Ken Bunyasi told the CS that the majority of schools have received funds. “Most school heads started receiving the funds in their accounts yesterday,” Bunyasi said.
Many principals confirmed that the money was already in their bank accounts but Nyandarua was singled out with Magoha saying many students had been sent home in the county. “I am aware that in Nyandarua there has been a massive exodus of children from school”.
These children must be recalled back to school immediately,” the CS said.
