Azimio La Umoja One Kenya alliance Presidential candidate Raila Odinga said his call to Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati had been misinterpreted.
According to Raila he only sought to urge the polls body to guarantee Kenyans a free and fair elections devoid of manipulation ahead of August 9 polls.
The sentiments have come a day after he declared that there might not be elections if the polls agency fails to use a manual register in the elections.
Speaking in Kirinyaga County, during his campaign tour where he was accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua, Raila added that his coalition was steadfast and was not going to bolt out of the State House race.
As “Azimio la Umoja we are ready for this elections because currently we are at 64 percent and we will win with over 70 percent,” Raila added.
He also appealed to the IEBC and the national government administration to be alert and ensure the polls are transparent and in according to the law. “We want the IEBC to do its work in accordance with the law,” Raila said.
The presidential candidate also insisted on a manual registration at every poll station along with the biometric identification of voters on the day of election.
