A road accident has yet again occurred at the Nairobi Expressway just a day after another left several injured.
An accident today happened at the entrance of the Nairobi Expressway in Westlands which resulted in major traffic congestion along Nairobi’s Waiyaki Way.
According to eyewitnesses, a Super Metro passenger bus flipped after colliding with a guardrail and another vehicle that was traveling in the expressway lane to avoid hitting them both.
Several were injured severely and taken directly to the hospital.
On Monday night, another accident involving an Embassava Sacco bus occurred at the Mlolongo toll station.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) temporarily closed the Mlolongo exit from the Nairobi Expressway following the bus accident.
The accident involved an Embassava bus and a personal vehicle which left several passengers injured.
It is believed that both cars were in the departure lane of the recently built road. The public utility vehicle also struck a toll booth with a worker inside, who suffered minor injuries.
“Motorists are notified of an accident that has occurred along the Nairobi Expressway at the Mlolongo Toll Station, involving a PSV mini-bus. Multiple injuries have been reported, and traffic police are attending to the scene,” stated KENHA.
Two weeks ago, one fatality and an undetermined number of injuries were reported in a tragic accident on the Nairobi expressway.
Multiple vehicles were involved in the 10 pm accident at the Mlolongo Toll station.
The KENHA said that a driver who was leaving the toll station was driving at a high speed when they collided with other vehicles and a toll booth.
