President Uhuru Kenyatta has called out his Deputy William Ruto for making false promises to Kenyans when he couldn’t deliver on his mandate while serving in the Jubilee government.
The President further said that his deputy has been criticizing the government he serves while at the same time giving Kenyans empty promises that he will fulfil if he ascends to power once the Kenyan electorate decides.
President Kenyatta expressed regret over the remarks by his Deputy saying he failed to perform his duties while working for the government.
“I am really saddened when I see some people ever complaining about the failures of the government. Someone who has been given a task to serve the country, instead of performing his role, he is just busy making noise here and there,” Uhuru said.
The Head of State defended Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya over his transformation of the agricultural sector saying Ruto failed to perform while he served in the same docket.
According to the Commander-in-Chief, CS Munya has achieved more in the few years he has occupied the office than his predecessors who were at the helm for much longer.
“Munya here in three years has brought changes in the agricultural sector, they were there for eight years, and what did they do? They are the ones who don’t understand,” President Kenyatta remarked.
He similarly urged the congregants to be critical in electing their leaders and to consider those who would be focused on moving the country forward rather than those dwelling on the past.
President Kenyatta further said that no one should blame him for the failures of the government urging Kenyans to “think very hard” before electing leaders as the country heads to the polls.
DP Ruto has been on the forefront in condemning the performance of the Jubilee administration led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Head of State was speaking during the 100th International Cooperative Day Celebration at the KICC.
