A section of Mt Kenya leaders in Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties have backed Rigathi Gachagua as the coalition’s best running mate.
Speaking today in Maragua during the Murang’a county Economic Forum, Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome said that she was fully behind the MP because of his development track-record.
“He (Gachagua) has the energy and firmness needed to move Kenya to the next level,” she said.
Deputy President William Ruto, Rigathi, Justin Muturi (National Assembly Speaker), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Kuria (Chama Cha Kazi) and Alfred Mutua were among the leaders present (Maendeleo Chap Chap).
MP Maragua Mary Wamaua, Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a), Alice Wahome (Kandara), Charles Njagua (Starehe), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) were also in attendance along with a slew of MCAs and political hopefuls.
Kang’ata stated that the Mathira legislator will be instrumental in restoring Central Kenya’s political relevance.
Gachagua, according to Nyoro, has the region’s blessing to work with Ruto in recovering Mt Kenya’s fading economic fortunes.
Agriculture, in particular, will be adequately encouraged and funded under the Kenya Kwanza administration, he said.
“This will help us produce and earn more, hence get our farmers out of the poverty trap,” he noted.
