Azimio la Umoja presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has presented the Azimio cabinet line-up if elected president in August 2022.
Making the announcement during the unveiling of his running mate at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende will be the Senate Speaker, Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Wycliff Oparanya, Cabinet Secretary for Peter Munya will retain his current slot as Agriculture CS but will have an additional role as Chairperson of the Kenya Productive Sector while Cabinet Secretary for Land will be Ali Hassan Joho.
However, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka followed through on his threat to leave the Azimio One Kenya alliance despite the President’s intervention, Kalonzo was downgraded to Chief Minister in the Azimio la Umoja cabinet, despite his desire to be the number two.
During a media briefing at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Command Centre (SKM), the former Vice President announced his running mate, Andrew Leteipa Sunkuli, in accordance with IEBC deadlines.
After it became clear that Narc Martha Karua was about to be introduced as Raila’s favoured candidate, Kalonzo claimed he was not ashamed of his last-minute manoeuvre.
Karua was among the eleven shortlisted candidates for the running mate slot within the movement.
“After a much searching we have arrived at a Joshua who will lead us to the next government, “said Odinga.
