MC Jessy drops out of Imenti South MP race, to join Ruto’s presidential campaign team
Imenti South United Democratic Alliance (UDA) parliamentary aspirant Jasper Muthomi (MC Jessy) has stepped down in favor of his rival, Mwiti Kathaara.
However, the comedian will join Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign team ahead of tomorrow’s UDA party primaries countrywide.
“MC Jessy (Jasper Muthomi) will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favour of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti Seat,” Ruto tweeted.
In January, Jessy joined the Hustler movement to vie for the South Imenti parliamentary seat on a UDA party ticket.
He was welcomed to the party by Ruto who had called him and invited him to the party.
“It’s now clear where the vision is heading. After many days of consultative meetings with my South Imenti people, I have officially been invited to join UDA.
The groundwork that has been done has finally landed on the side of the winning team,” wrote MC Jessy.
“When I got the call from the Chief Hustler Inviting me, I had to heed my people’s call and his call to join the winning team. And may the work of redefining South Imenti now begin.”
MC Jessy, who formally declared his candidature in November, last year, said he is best suited to give a new face to the constituency.
