Former State House chief Nzoika Waita has picked Florence Mwangangi, Machakos County speaker, as his deputy.
The duo teamed up ahead of the August 9 general election using the Chama Cha Uzalendo party, an affiliate party of the Azimio La Umoja.
Waita had yesterday hinted at the possibility of shelving his ambition of leading Machakos county, alluding that he was considering vying in Nairobi.
However, he refuted the claims stating that his interest was to serve the people of Machakos and nothing would sway him to vie elsewhere.
He was speaking in Machakos as he welcomed Mwangangi as the deputy party leader of the Chama Cha Uzalendo.
Mwangangi was elected as the county speaker of the Machakos County Assembly under the NASA coalition in 2017.
A lawyer by profession, Mwangangi has shelved her ambition of becoming the first female governor in Machakos county.
The dual will battle it out against Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, ex-CAS Wavinya Ndeti, Deputy Governor Francis Maliti, and former Senator Johnson Muthama.
