Former Senator David Musila joins the already crowded Kitui gubernatorial race, setting stage for a “big fight” for the coveted Wiper party ticket.
His entry into the race for Governor Charity Ngilu’s seat has so far drawn three heavyweights, including former Governor Julius Makau Malombe and ambassador Kiema Kilonzo.
Musila, during the launch of his campaign in Mwingi’s Musila Gardens grounds, unveiled his manifesto for the people of Kitui County, which includes a radical shift in procurement methods and procedures that will give youth 30 per cent of county jobs through tenders.
“How do we as leaders of Kitui County feel to have played the only role that led to the untimely death of our son Nzamba Kitonga. Don’t we feel sorry for that? If we do, then we should not parade ourselves in quest of any leadership in this country leave alone the Kitui gubernatorial seat,” he said against Kitui Governor Ngilu.
Musila, a former provincial commissioner, stated that within 100 days of his administration, all hospitals would have enough drugs and qualified professionals to staff various sectors.
Musila asked delegates from all 40 civic wards in Kitui County to support his bid for Kitui governorship, which he claimed would improve the lives of Kitui residents.
Musila is the second gubernatorial candidate to release a manifesto, following Kiema Kilonzo. Former Governor Julius Makau Malombe is expected to present his manifesto to the people of Kitui on March 25, in Kitui.
Former Nairobi deputy governor Jonathan Mueke is another candidate who is expected to give Malombe and Musila a run for their money.
