A suspect who had been on the run for two months is in police custody for allegedly killing a 21-year-old woman in Naivasha’s Moi Ndabi village.
Using his cell phone, police tracked him down to a Nairobi estate where he was apprehended and taken to Naivasha Police Station.
According to Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru, preliminary investigations linked the suspect to the murder.
“We have the main suspect in custody, and he is assisting with investigations,” Waweru said.
He revealed that the suspect had been smoked out of his hideout in a residential estate in the capital city.
He was last seen with the woman, who was said to be his lover, on January 31st, before she vanished.
The woman was struck on the head with a blunt object and her assailant attempted to set her body on fire. The woman was last seen on the 30th of January.
A farmer discovered her decomposing body in a maize plantation a week later.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the victim, Jane Wanjiru, died as a result of strangulation.
According to family members, the mother of one was eager to end a five-year relationship with her love.
Her family claimed she was no longer interested in the love affair and had told friends she planned to end it.
